A walk-off single propelled TheLapeer Lightning Varsity Baseball team to a decisive, dramatic victory over Dow, 7-6. The game was tied at six with The Lightning batting in the bottom of the ninth when Jimmy Bukowski singled on a 0-1 count, scoring Brayden Mckenna who doubled to lead off the inning.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Lapeer collected 12 hits and Dow nine in the high-scoring affair.
Lapeer scored three runs in the second inning. Luke Forti, Drew Johnston, and Brayden Mckenna all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Grant Masterson was on the hill for The Lightning. He went one and one-third innings, allowing two runs on one hit. Jacob Whitney, Zack Lemke, and Drew Johnston also pitched. Johnston was fantastic over three and two-third innings allowing 2 hits and striking out six!
Lapeer Lightning Varsity Baseball racked up 12 hits on the day. Mckenna, Forti, and Johnston each managed multiple hits for Lapeer. Mckenna went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead The Lightning in hits.
