Lapeer High School vs Carman-Ainsworth High School
129 53

On Tuesday, 2/6 our team went to Carman-Ainsworth for a double dual meet against Carman and Powers Catholic. We had 20 out of 28 swimmers competing due to a Jazz Band event and illness. It’s great to see our team all pull together and swim strong races. Our team took 1st place in all 12 events! Please congratulate the following swimmers on their outstanding swims and taking 1st place:
Kyle Martindale: 200 Free, 500 Free, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay
Hunter Higgins: 200 IM and 100 Breast, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay
Travis Ross: 50 Free and 100 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay
Carter Cerny: 1 mtr Diving, 200 Free Relay
Joe Schultz: 100 Butterfly, 200 Medley Relay
Kate Groulx: 100 Back, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay
Grant Masterson: 200 Free Relay
Reece Fisher: 200 Free Relay

To fill in some of the the gaps, we had Kristen Kautz, Christian Miller and Max DeCou take on events they had never done in a meet. Kristen was challenged with the 200 Free and dropped 53.03 off her practice time, achieving a new PB time of 2:59.30. Christian happily took on the 500 Free. He did an amazing job, dropping 7:29.59 off his original practice time, achieving a new PB time of 8:12.84. This is Kristen’s and Christian’s first year swimming and they have been working very hard to learn all the strokes and proper technique. Their hard work is paying off, as seen in this meet. Max DeCou took on the 100 Butterfly. He has previously conquered the 50 Butterfly in the Medley Relay, but now it was time to put his strength, power and endurance to the test. Although he received a DQ, his valiant effort to help his team did not go unnoticed and was very much appreciated.

Once again, we had several new PB times achieved as denoted by * below. Our 3 divers: Carter Cerny, Dylan Fuchs and Keegan White, were the only divers and scored 13 points for our team. They continue to practice hard to build their dive list with challenging dives to be as competitive as possible.
