The Lapeer Lightning Varsity Baseball team ran off with the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory over Swartz Creek on Saturday. The Lightning were trailing by 3 going into the top of the seventh. Bobby Opalewski started the inning with a lead off walk. Brayden McKenna then singled putting runners at 1st and 2nd. Drew Johnston then singled to score Opalewski to make it 4-6. Jimmy Bukowski then doubles down the left field line scoring two to tie the game 6-6. Phoenix Dickson then singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Bukowski and giving the lightning the lead 7-6.
Lapeer Lightning Varsity Baseball collected ten hits and Swartz Creek had five in the high-scoring affair.
Grant Masterson was the winning pitcher for Lapeer. He went two innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two. Jimmy Bukowski and Jacob Whitney entered the game out of the bullpen and helped in the victory
