Lapeer JV boys basketball laced up the shoes Thursday evening against a very formidable 7-2 Notre Dame Prep team. The Lapeer squad appeared to be flat as they started the game missing open shots, lay-ups and free throws. Falling behind early the boys battled hard to draw within 5 points and headed to the locker room down 20-15. The 2nd half a more energetic Lightning team stepped onto the floor. The increased effort quickly paid dividends as Lapeer outscored the Fighting Irish 17-5 to end the 3rd quarter leading 32-25. The 4th quarter was hard fought as Notre Dame hit several big buckets to keep the game close. In the end the Lightning made enough of their free throws to squeak out a 48 – 44 victory improving their record to 6 – 1 on the season.
Scoring for the Lightning:
Ryan Rubick – 2pts. Isaiah Lee – 3pts. Matt Smiley – 3 pts. Logan Dunbar – 5 pts. Sean Nolan – 9pts. Kyle Freeland – 10pts. Gavin Carr – 16pts.
