After another long layoff Lapeer played their 3rd game of the season. Facing a well coached Flushing squad riding a 4 game win streak, Lapeer showed no signs of rust. A stifling defense and offensive execution in the half court sets resulted in a 28-13 Lightning lead at the break. Halftime adjustments by the Flushing coaching staff and early foul trouble created problems for the Lighting offense in the 3rd quarter. However continued commitment at the defensive end and a big time steal & bucket by point guard Matt Smiley provided an 11 pt. cushion. Early in the 4th, Flushing found offensive success entering the ball into the low post. Lapeer answered by going to the bench and calling on the services of Jacob Taunton. The strong physical play of Jake disrupted the Flushing low post success and Lapeer held on for a solid 45-37 victory. Lapeer heads to Bay City on Friday looking for a 3rd straight win.

Scoring for Lapeer : Gavin Carr – 15 pts. Kyle Freeland – 15 pts. Matt Smiley – 6 pts. Sean Nolan – 5 pts. Brandon Franzel – 2 pts. Jacob Taunton – 2 pts.
