The LHS Boys team ran well in Saturday’s Regional race at Delta College. The top seven runners were Senior Jesse Sullivan (17:50), Senior Joe Schultz (18:49), Junior Jay Moore (19:26), Sophomore Tom Weir (19:32), Junior Carter Cerny (19:39), Senior Zachary Sparks (20:16) and Sophomore Peyton Fryer (20:28). Sullivan, Schultz, Moore, Weir, Cerny, and Fryer all ran their season best times.
Outside of the top seven, Lapeer had several athletes run their season best times: Junior Gavin English (20:32), Junior Troy Lemieux (20:22), Junior Christian Miller (20:52), Junior Jacob Parsons (21:21), Senior Kyle Martindale (21:31), Freshman Carter Enright (21:38), Sophomore Ben Schultz (21:39), Freshman Caleb Moore (21:45), and Freshman Anthony Perkins (22:30).
“It’s always bittersweet getting to the end of a cross country season” remarked Head Coach Bill Spruytte. “With so many of our athletes doing so well down the stretch, it’s natural to want to compete for another couple of weeks. We are also graduating several seniors. It will be tough to say goodbye to those guys, but we’ve got several underclassmen ready to step up in 2018”.
